Affinities
July 9 - August 15, 2009
Space 125 Gallery, Houston Texas

Affinities is a 2-screen, multi-layered work investigating two deep relationships – one between the artist's two adopted children from China, and the other between longtime adult friends. Their separate narratives are joined together through a shared visual of closely cropped gestures and body movements, performed by a third set of friends.

The 11-minute project reveals the basic, shared touchpoints in building any relationship with another person, despite vast differences in individual backgrounds and stories.

This project is presented as part of Houston Arts Alliance’s Interconnectivity show, featuring recent grantees working in video art.
